Harding Fine Arts Academy’s theater department won first place in the OSSAA 4A Regional One-Act Play contest along with the opportunity to compete for the state title October 30 in Edmond.
Harding Fine Arts won for the production, “Psycho Beach Party,” and was also honored with Outstanding Stage Crew and Tech.
Four of the top 10 acting awards were won by cast members from the HFAA’s production including the top position. All Star Cast members honored were Brooke Bradley, Jade Junier, Davin Gooch and Ryan Smith.
“Psycho Beach Party,” by Charles Busch, is a comedic collision between the quirky beach blanket movies of the early 60s and the plot twists of a Hitchcock thriller. Chicklet Forrest (Brooke Bradley), a teenage tomboy, wants to be accepted into the Malibu surf crowd, but finds her multiple personalities and her mother getting in the way.
The contest was hosted in the Harding Theater featuring productions from Mt. Saint Mary (2nd place), Prague (3rd place). Harding Charter Prep, and Meeker.
